4.5.10

Hey, this week was Semana Santa so that meant that everyone was more drunk than usual and that movies about christ were on tv. The movies were pretty cool but pretty bad too, I'm pretty sure Satan has a tricky plan, the one time the whole year that they put movies about christ on tv it happens during conference because nobody assisted the conference saturday and a in the afternoon on sunday. It was weird to watch conference down here without the family but cool too a lot of speakers can speak spanish so they pre record their talks and do it in spanish that was pretty cool. This conference i learned a lot and sure appreciated their words of wisdom.

This week i got really sick for a day with something bad in my stomach, my comp says it was a popsicle i ate haha but i think it was the chicken haha. That day we stayed in the room, the next day we spent the whole day putting up a new roof and then we had conference, we didn't do anything as far as work is concerned but the week was fun. Then today we walked 4 miles to some small mountains called the Dos Tetas haha, we climbed them, destroyed some cactus with rocks, wrote our names on a rock with red fingernail polish which looked like blood and pushed a huge rock off the edge of the hill haha. then we hitch hiked back to the room, it was awesome but I'm burnt again, this always happens every p-day haha

I was hoping that chiclayo would be a lot cooler but for some reason its feels so much hotter, it gets cooler at night but you can't be outside because of all the mosquitos here. We live in a tiny room, my feet touch the wall and have less than an inch of space before my head hits the wall when i go to sleep at night, we don't have any windows and it gets really hot at night but the cool thing is that we have running water for the first time in the mission. My comp De La Cruz is from madre de dios peru and reminds me of a mix of a chinese person and peruvian sometimes haha, he’s a different guy but he's still a good guy too. Hopefully the work will pick up this week cuz we have no investigators right now!

So we have changes in the mission, i'm going to chiclayo and my comp is going to piura, the cool thing is i'm going to my comps first area. I haven't met my new comp yet but i know that his name is Elder De la Cruz thats all i freaking nervous to meet this guy. I'm going to be speaking a lot of spanish this week and my brain is going to be fried when i write my next email a week from now. We went and said good bye yesterday, that was so hard, i had to say goodbye to everyone that i know here in peru. Next week i'm going to be homesick for the utah and homesick for talara, this is so hard i don't want to leave. This week we hung out with gustavo everyday to keep gustavo animated for baptism and we baptized him on saturday, it was perfect, it was one of the baptisms that you hear about that were really spiritual. Gustavo bore his testimony afterwards and was crying and then got hugs from everyone there, and it was cool to see how everyone there he had only knew for a couple weeks but they loved him and his life had changed because of that. Afterwards walking back to our room i felt so good inside, true peace inside for the first time, my eyes opened a bit and now i know a little more about life. I can't describe how good i felt and still feel haha, its awesome. Afterwards we went to the beach played soccer, ate food and watched the sunset. Perfect day.

3.8.10

hey heres an update for the week, nothing super sweet happened, we baptized kenny which was actually cool come to think of it. She had to have anther baptismal interview with pres chippman and she passed so we asked if she wanted to be baptized right now and she said sure so we went to the church. Called a member from the ward, he came (looked like he just came from the beach) and with 4 people, me, my comp, the member and kenny we baptized her. She didn't want pics at all, which was awesome. The hole thing took 20 minutes it was awesome and super low key. Gustavo is set for next week hes ready for the baptism on saturday and he even talked to prez chippman for a minute or two on sunday about going on a mission. Gustavo is ready for everything he just has a fear to mess up after his baptism. But we took care of it and it'll be cool to baptize him because we started teaching him in january and now we'll baptize him 2 1/2 months later. Changes are next week, i don't know if i'm ready for change or want it but it'll be interesting to see what goes down sunday.
